Palomino Blackwing Pencil Set
A Blackwing Pencil is a peerless writing and drawing tool. The original pencils were used by authors and artists including John Steinbeck, Stephen Sondheim, and Chuck Jones (the illustrator who used his Blackwing to draw Bugs Bunny!) After the pencils were discontinued, fans of the brand began paying up to $40 for a single pencil at auction. They were revived by the Palomino pencil company to bring the cult product back for a new generation of writers and artists.
The box contains 12 pencils made in Japan using Californian incense-cedar wood with a smooth Japanese graphite core. The removable ferrule at the end of the pencil allows you to replace its eraser when it has run out, or customise it by choosing your own colour eraser (available in blue, green, orange, pink, black, white).
Available in 3 different grades of graphite:
- Palomino Blackwing (Soft Graphite): perfect for illustrators and musicians who prefer a soft, dark line. Matte black lacquer finish, gold imprint, pearl white eraser.
- Palomino Blackwing 602 (Firm Graphite): Based on the original 602, and features a firm lead that offers “half the pressure, twice the speed.” Grey lacquer finish, gold imprint, black eraser.
- Palomino Blackwing Pearl (Balanced Graphite): Features a balanced and smooth graphite core that sits comfortably between its two siblings. Pearl white lacquer finish, black imprint, black eraser.
Each box contains 12 unsharpened pencils with the same grade graphite.
