A dramatic statement piece for the library wall. This original book cover from The Shakespeare Library dates from c.1870, and has been skilfully framed especially for Scriptum by Canford & Co framers in London. The green cloth cover board with bright gilt decoration is strikingly mounted behind glass, inside your choice of either a mildly distressed black frame with a muted gold sight edge, or an ornately beaded golden frame.
As the covers are all unique and well over 100 years old, considerable variation in the colour and condition of the cover should be expected - some have faded to a lighter green from exposure to sunlight, some have water marks or slight blemishes - and in our opinion, they are all individually gorgeous.
